1985-87 Toyota 4WD Pickup 22RE Smog Legal Headers (actually fits 79-95)
I closed Downey Off Road Mfg in 2009, but just found this set of new (NOS) Headers up in the rafters of one of our storage buildings. These Headers were originally smog legal on 1981-87 Toyota 4WD Pickups, but they would require some additional pieces to be smog legal on all those year models now, but they ARE smog legal as supplied on 1985-87 22RE engines (fuel injected engines). Although the Headers technically fit 1979-95 Toyota 4WD Pickups, they would require different tail pipes to fit the 1979-80 and 1988-95 models. These Headers do include the necessary block off plates for all year models if using strictly for off road or racing use only. Additionally, a Hot Air Riser would be necessary on all carbureted models, not included, one available from Hedman Headers/Summit Racing (#24510, see last photo above).
These Headers do include the tail pipe back to the cat (trim length of 2 1/2 pipe as necessary for short bed/long bed/4 Runner). First and foremost- - -that little yellow under-hood smog decal. All the others list their Headers for off road use only, good luck at the smog inspector.Heavy 14 gauge steel tubing, all the China Headers are thinner 16 or 18 gauge (sometimes only 20 gauge). Additional passageways milled into the Header flange (see last photo above) to feed EGR system so that you do not get a check engine light. Made in the USA by American workers- - -easy deal.
